Money, the route of America's Cup success?

Money, they say is the root of all evil but can’t buy you love. But can it buy America’s Cup glory?
In the rarified world of the Louis Vuitton Cup and the America’s Cup spectacular which will follow it, money is synonymous with success on the evidence of this year’s racing to date.

All four semi-finalists — US behemoths BMW Oracle Racing, Emirates Team New Zealand, Luna Rossa of Italy and Spanish challengers Desafio — took, not entirely coincidentally, to the water buoyed by the largest budgets of the 11 competing syndicates.


Desafio is well behind the big three with its E60 million (RM275 million) treasure chest being just half that of the Americans, while Luna Rossa have E90 million (RM413 million) and the Kiwis E75 million (RM345 million) to call on. ..
